Welcome!

I’m Suzanne

Your go-to girl for travel Tips for Couples

I am the partner who plans all the travel, holds my husband’s passport for him, researches what I want to see in any destination we visit, and takes the photos to document the journey.

I love to read travel blogs myself, especially when visiting somewhere new. I value honest reviews when choosing a new hotel or all-inclusive that I don’t know anything about yet.

This blog aims to provide that content for couples, solo travelers, empty nesters, and other adults who want to plan their travel.

Behind the blog

How it all started

Back in 2012, I moved to the beautiful North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii where I lived for seven years. During that time, I created a “photo of the day” blog on Tumblr and later moved it to Instagram. I wanted to document my adventures, hikes, and solo travel while I was there.

Years later, I decided to revamp my original idea with photos and travel reviews. Now the focus is a little different. Not only do I write about solo travel, but also about couples travel including travel tips, reviews, travel gifts, and everything in between. Despite the Hawaiian inspiration for my blog name, I write about travel destinations all over the world.

FAQ

I love any destination that allows me to have both sightseeing and adventurous days mixed with relaxing days. I am a big believer in spacing out your itinerary so you don’t need a vacation when you return from your vacation! I obviously have a soft spot for the Hawaiian Islands but have also been exploring the Caribbean, Mexico, and have many spots in Europe on my bucket list.

I always try to get the best deal, which isn’t easy. I always start with flights when planning my travel because it is the biggest hassle when booking a trip. Flights are getting more and more expensive so it is best to book early for the best deal and try to use your travel points. I have had great experiences with Delta, Alaska Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. The latter two have now merged under Alaska. The reason I like these airlines so much is they often have a mid-tier seating class between economy and first-class that is more comfortable for long haul flights and, depending on the airline, offers free food and drinks, checked baggage, and priority boarding.

If you count my photo of the day blog, I started in 2012. I created this website in 2024 and started writing long-form content.

Stay tuned in the future. I may be adding this feature as I get my processes streamlined.
